How To Choose A Topic For A Blog Post
When you first start blogging it seems really easy to come up with interesting topics. But after a while the process becomes a bit more challenging. Nothing is worse that sitting down to choose a topic for a blog post and coming up with nothing! Just a "blank piece of paper".  Here are a few tips to help you find good topics to blog about.

Write What You Like To Talk About

It only makes sense doesn't it? The things you like to chit chat about make good blog posts. Blog posts are kind of chatty by nature so it's actually quite easy. See, blogging isn't like writing for a newspaper where you are expected to display this super professional and very formal wording. Blogging can be seen more as chatting.

Blog About Challenges You Have Overcomed

If you blog about problems you've solved or challenges you've overcome, then you'll always have a steady stream of new ideas. It can be simple how-to type posts or more in depth and comprehensive. Whatever your style is. The point is that we are all solving some kind of problem on a regular basis as bloggers. It could be something as simple as how to install Google Analytics or how to use an FTP client. A lot of your readers will be bloggers as well, and we all could use a tip here and there.

Blog About Problems You Haven't Solved

If you can get a steady stream of ideas from problems you have solved, then you'll really have an endless source of ideas by blogging about problems you haven't solved yet! Not only will this approach generate new ideas but your readers might also be able to help you out. It's OK to let your readers know that you don't know everything. Besides, people love to show off their knowledge and post an answer when they know it.

Blog About Things You Are Passionate About

This kind of goes along with blogging about the things you chat about. The difference is that when you blog about your passions, you can get deep into it. These kinds of posts are generally more in depth. People can sense passion and like to comment on passionate posts. Passionate usually equals opinionated and people love and hate strong opinions, which is great for attracting comments and links.

It All Depends On Your Blog

You can throw all of this advice out the window if your blog is made for adsense. You wont  make any money. If your plan is to make money with adsense then you need to choose topics that focus around which ads you want people to click on.  You would need to keep your topics more focused on certain keywords. I will save that for another article because it's very important and there's a certain way to do it.

So blog about what you know and are passionate about, the problems you've solved and the problems you haven't solved. It will keep you from scratching your head and wondering how to choose a topic for a blog post.
