I'd like to talk about two of the most popular blog platforms and make some comparisons. I use both Blogger and WordPress. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Most pro bloggers use WordPress blogs. They like them a whole lot more than the blogger blogs. In fact you almost
never see anyone recommending Blogger anymore. Why? Blogger has been used to create link farms. So has WordPress but they are much more into finding and eliminating link farms than blogger. A link farm is when you set up say 1000 blogs rather quickly with software and you use those blogs to add links and traffic to your main money site. Anyways, Bloggers reputation has been somewhat tarnished by its tolerance of link farms .
WordPress AdvantagesWordPress has a ton of plug-ins you can use. A plug-in is a cool piece of software that you can use to optimize your blog. Everything from feeds to seo. You can use a plug-in to have a WordPress blog automatically update your blog. You just write the posts before hand and load them up. Then you use your plug in to have WP post as often as you want. Nice. So the plug ins are cool and WP has a ton of them.
On the other hand it's very difficult for a beginner blogger to use WP. It is so confoundedly confusing! You have to know css and it really is quite difficult at first to accomplish anything.
Blogger AdvantagesBlogger is super easy to use! It doesn't have the cool plug-ins like WP but you can be up and running in no time at all. I recommend blogger for newbies for sure! It's not as search engine friendly as WP but you don't need to worry about that at first. You just need to start blogging and posting. That will get you off the ground. You can always tweak your meta tags in blogger later when you know what they are.
Another thing is that Blogger is owned by Google. Put it together. Blogger blogs get indexed by Google rather quickly. Some say it's not true and that Google pays no special attention to blogger blogs. I don't know for sure but I've always been indexed comparatively quickly on blogger.
In conclusionI recommend experimenting with both Blogger and WordPress. The more advanced you become, the more you'll discover for yourself the value of a WordPress blog. But if you don't like a lot of fuss and you're not very tech savvy then I think blogger is the way to go.
Keep in mind that you can always import your blogger blog to a WordPress blog later on. In closing I want to offer this excellent resource for blogger bloggers. Grizzly at
How to Make Money Online for Beginners gives all sorts of wonderful advice for those of us who use blogger.
For those of you who want to use WordPress but haven't got much technical knowledge I recommend visiting the
